Star strikes for O'Briens
By Gary Carson

Lone Star and Joseph O'Brien take the mile maiden
(Healy Racing Photos)
Lone Star drifted slightly in the betting on track but got the job done in the mile maiden at Dundalk for Aidan and Joseph O'Brien.
80/1 outsider Scooping took them along but gave way over a furlong from home asJoseph O'Brien drove his mount into the lead.
He galloped on strongly in the closing stages to post a two-and-a-quarter length success at 6/5 (opened 10/11).
Scooping just lost the runner-up spot close home to Bobby's Heart. Flare Of Firelight was backed on track from 6/4 into 11/10 favourite but could only finish a well held fourth.
Lone Star had finished down the field on his debut in a Curragh maiden last October but ran well here last month when second to Not Your Call.
“He's progressed since the last day. He might go for a winners' race and we'll see where he slots in,” said O'Brien senior afterwards.

Aidan O'Brien hasn't saddled too many runners in recent weeks but Lone Star represents the master of Ballydoyle in The Champions Restaurant At Dundalk Stadium Maiden and he ought to go well again having displayed improved form to finish second here at the beginning of last month.

Reckless Abandon: Group 1 winner's dam will visit Galileo this year
PICTURE: Edward Whitaker (racingpost.com/photos)
Sant Elena set for date with mighty Galileo
BY MARTIN STEVENS5:52PM 4 FEB 2014
SANT ELENA, the dam of dual Group 1-winning two-year-old and Kildangan Stud newcomer Reckless Abandon, will visit champion sire Galileo in 2014.
She is currently in foal to Darley's exciting young sire New Approach and is due to foal later this spring for her owners, Car Colston Hall Stud in Nottinghamshire.
The 11-year-old Efisio mare won two races for Geoff Wragg before gaining valuable black type at Woodbine. While on the other side of the Atlantic, Sant Elena was covered by Exchange Rate - a mating that produced Reckless Abandon -before travelling back to Car Colston Hall Stud.
She has a yearling colt by Aqlaam who was sold to Angus Gold on behalf of Shadwell for 200,000gns in November, and an unraced three-year-old Dansili filly named Free Rein, who has been retained by the stud to race in the colours of the Eclipse Partnership Syndicate and is in training with Ralph Beckett.
"Free Rein had a little setback at two but she's back in work and Ralph is pleased with her," said stud manager Keith Haggins. "Sant Elena's dam Argent Du Bois, who has also produced dual US Grade 1 winner Ticker Tape, was barren last year but will visit Cape Cross in the coming months.
"We're desperately hoping for another filly from her to continue the line," said Haggins of the 18-year-old daughter of Silver Hawk.
"For her last three covers we've sent her to Pivotal, Dalakhani and Selkirk, who we consider good broodmare sires, and she's given us a colt each time.
"Argent Du Bois is out of Car Colston Hall Stud foundation mare Wiener Wald, who is 22 and in foal to Nathaniel, a stallion the stud has a share in.
"Wiener Wald is due to foal at the end of March - again, we would like a filly out of her, but would be more than happy with a colt," Haggins said of the Woodman mare, who has produced seven winners including Racing Post Trophy hero Crowded House.
"She looks 15 rather than 22. She is embedded in the history of the stud and it's fair to say that without her we wouldn't be where we are now.
"We have no mating plans for her this year and we hope she will live a long, happy retirement at Car Colston Hall Stud."
Wiener Wald's daughter Riotous Applause, the dam of Listed-winning two-year-old and former Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale top lot Invincible Warrior, is back in foal to that colt's sire Invincible Spirit and will visit Iffraaj in the coming months.
"Car Colston Hall Stud looks forward to supporting Reckless Abandon in his first year at stud by sending him the well-bred winning daughter of Hernando Hold On Tight," said Haggins.
"We are looking forward to the coming breeding season as we also plan to use the exciting new sires Al Kazeem and Declaration Of War and between current and forthcoming stock we are keeping everything crossed for the stud to breed a fifth Group 1 winner."
