Aspen Colorado winner of his first 2 starts in National Hunt racing faces stiff competition in the ATTHERACES.COM CHAMPION INH FLAT RACE at 6.05pm at Punchestown.
ASPEN COLORADO A 4YO son of Galileo was a Part of the Ballydoyle flat team when he was a Juvenile and a 3 year old but was never ready to race. He was then gelded and sold to JP McManus with a national hunt career in mind.
He made his debut on the 17th of January at Leopardstown winning cosily by over 4 lengths. Form that has since been boosted by Without Limites who has since won a duo of National hunt flat races.
His second appearance in a winners bumper again at Leopardstown 5 weeks later on February 28th he was less impressive this time but he got the job done winning by half a length he stayed on strongly but the feeling after the race was maybe that was not good enough for Aspen to take his chance in the World biggest and most important Nation Hunt flat race the Cheltenham Champion Bumper . The Sneaky Punter who finished 3rd on that day has since won a bumper.
Today Aspen Colorado faces the toughest task of his short career he takes on Battleford from Team mullins who ran with great credit at Cheltenham finishing 2nd. Moon Racer the 2015 Cheltenham Champion Bumper winner who spent this season absent through injury makes his reappearance and could be the one to beat depending how he comes back. Bacardys The Aintree Champion Bumper winner also looks a huge player in this another for team Mullins.
It looks one heck of a race and from what I have seen of Aspen he maybe up against it here. this is a big step up in class for him but have no doubts he has a decent chance and fully deserves to take his place.
